Australian Umbrella Tree

Common Myna. These were all over, and behaved like grackles do in the U.S.

These guys would go out in the morning and collect fish or treasure or something.

They hiked out pretty far.

The view from Joske's Thumb. I got close to the summit, but not to the top because it's a technical climb. Sir Edmund Hillary only made it this far on his first try, so I didn't feel too bad about it.

Naikorokoro Village, from Joske's Thumb. I don't think anybody there has a car. They walk about 2 miles (50 minutes) to get to the "highway" where they can catch a bus or a taxi to get to work or school. They were pretty nice. There are 18 houses in the village, and they were building another one.

The beaches were definitely not crowded.

Some beaches were a little trashy, most were clean.

I think they ship sugar cane from here (Lautoka).

The black and white fish are called humbugs.

Snake Sea Cucumber. A guy told me those are the only "snakes" in Fiji, but I don't think that's true.
