Catherine was born about 1731 in Montgomery County, Maryland.  Catherine's father was James Beall and her mother was Margaret Edmonston.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert (the Scotsman) Beall and Mary Berry; her maternal grandparents were Archibald Edmonston and Jane Beall. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Jeremiah, Zephaniah, Mary and Margery.  She was the third oldest of the five children.  She died before 1796 in Iredell County, North Carolina.
