William Herndon (William Albert) 
William was born in 1767 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. William's father was Edward Herndon and his mother was Lucy Duerson. His paternal grandparents were Edward Herndon and Elizabeth Stubblefield; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Duerson and Hannah Brock. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Joseph, Sarah, Philadelphia and Lucy. He was the third oldest of the six children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Edward, Mary and Hannah. He died at the age of 56 on January 18th, 1823 in Belvoir, Fredericksburg, Virginia.General Notes
He was apparently wealthy and influential. He owned the noted Indian Queen Tavern, a stopping point for mail carriages between Richmond and Alexandria. Belvoir is on the Massaponax River in the County of Spotsylvania, the residence of the William Herndon.
