William I, known as the Conqueror, was born on October 14th, 1024 in Falaise, Calvados, France.  The Conqueror's father was Robert I of Normandy, 6th Duc de Normandie and his mother was Arlette (Herleve) Falaise.  His paternal grandparents were Richard (the Good) of Normandy II and Judith of Brittany; his maternal grandparents were Fulburt de Falaise and Doda. He had a brother named Adeliza. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Robert and Emma.  He died at the age of 62 on September 9th, 1087 in Hermenbraville, France.
