Harman Beardsley Van Valkenburgh 
Harman was born on March 13th, 1837 in Ithaca, New York.1 Harman's father was Dr Harman Pruyn Van Valkenburgh and his mother was Catherine Pruyn. His paternal grandparents were Bartholomeus Van Valkenburgh and Catherine Pruyn; his maternal grandparents were Francis Pruyn and Maria Van Vleck. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Francis, Bartholomew, Abram, Edward, Alvin, Catherine, Margaret and Sarah. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.General Notes
