John, known as Lackland, was born on December 24th, 1166 in Kings Manor House, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.  Lackland's father was King Henry II ("Curt Mantel") of England and his mother was Duchess Eleanor of Aquitaine.  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey (the Fair) Plantagenet V, Comte d'Anjou and Matilda ("the Empress"); his maternal grandparents were Guillaume  X, Duc d'Aquitaine and Eleanor Chastellerault de Rochefoucauld. He had a brother named Cour de Lion.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named William and Marie.  He died at the age of 49 on October 18th, 1216 in England.  He was buried about October 20th, 1216 in Worcester, England.
